Tuesday, December 3, 2024Segra is searching for a dynamic and
experienced Network Architect - Planning. We are looking for
someone who resides in one of the following states: North Carolina,
South Carolina, Virginia, or West Virginia.Role Overview:The
Network Architect - Planning will perform strategic planning and
engineering tasks of considerable technical difficulty that
includes analyzing, designing, planning, developing, budgeting, or
modifying network equipment and facilities for specific
markets/regions. This position will offer consulting and technical
guidance to lower level and peer engineering staff including OSP
Planners, Network Planners, and Network Engineers. This position
will work with Program Management to answer questions and to assure
that projects initiated from the Planning group are properly
implemented. This position will perform cost studies, build
estimates/analysis, project packages, and review jobs for accuracy
and content.Other responsibilities include:
- Review and recommendations for vendor network equipment.
- Help to recommend and document company/department procedures,
policies, and practices.
- Meet company and department goals and objectives.
- Consult with Enterprise/Carrier sales teams and Engineers
regarding current, future and past opportunities.
- Participate in cost reduction planning.Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in network engineering
- Must have prior experience with SONET, DWDM, and similar
technologies
- Must have knowledge of Layer 1 technologiesPreferred
Qualifications:
- Provisioning experience would be ideal (Cisco CTC)
- Ciena MCP/One Control
- Layer 2 and 3 knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field and/or equivalent work
experience
- Knowledge of telecommunications industry practices and
standards, activities of OSP, network engineering, and technical

regarding current, future and past opportunities.
