Job Description:

Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including complex equitable distribution, child custody, support as well as domestic violence.



Applicants should be skilled at drafting and negotiating separation agreements as well as preparing for and participating in mediations, arbitrations and litigation. It is imperative that you able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Responsibilities:

--- Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
--- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
--- Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
--- Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action
--- Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases



Qualifications:

--- Experience at a legal firm working on family law and real estate issues (determining marital property) for at least 1-2 years is required
--- Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
--- Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
--- 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
--- Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background
--- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
