Job Description:
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and
Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University, is seeking a graduate student support specialist.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. Responsibilities include
coordinating student admissions, enrollment, advising, course
scheduling, registration, clearance for graduation, and other DNP
program-related student affairs and administration duties.
This position partners with the College of Health and Human
Sciences, the Graduate College, as well as the University Office of
Student Services staff to provide support, guidance and resources
to DNP nursing students, parents, prospective students, and to the
School of Nursing, College, University, faculty and staff, as well
as community partners.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research
institution, and has been the largest historically Black university
in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 14,311
students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate
degree programs, 36 master's programs, and 12 doctoral programs. It
is America's top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and
Agricultural Science bachelor's programs, as well as a top five
producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts
and Communications/Journalism. It also ranks no. 3 in master's
degrees awarded to Black graduates in Engineering Technologies and

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human
Sciences (HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of
Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree
programs; Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services
Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and
Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree
programs including the Master in Physician Assistant Studies (PA
program), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Health
Psychology, and Ph.D in Social Work. Three additional doctoral
programs are being developed; Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP), PhD
in Applied Psychology, and PhD in Sociology. The HCHHS is also home
to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and
Equity Research (CIHDER), a hub for multidisciplinary research and
community engagement efforts to alleviate health inequities. The
HCHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these
departments to develop advanced academic programming, enhance the
mentoring of trainees, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary
research and scholastic activity.
The School of Nursing is dedicated to equipping individuals for the
nursing profession, ensuring they possess the essential skills and
knowledge for quality, safe, patient-centered care. Our
comprehensive program offerings include three tracks; (i)
traditional bachelor of nursing (BSN), (ii) Accelerated Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (ABSN), and (iii) RN to BSN pathways, catering
to a diverse range of educational needs. We are committed to

nursing leadership.
Minimum Requirements
* Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or above from an
accredited college or university
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in student affairs or academic
support roles
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
* A master's degree in education, counseling, business, or
healthcare-related discipline is preferred.
* Experience with registration, student advising, or classroom
accommodation
