The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections is seeking an
energized and collaborative oriented CAP Electrician Supervisor
(Electrician Supervisor I) to be a part of the Central
Engineering's Construction Apprenticeship Program (CAP) team and
provide construction support services to challenging yet rewarding

Electrician Supervisor provides CAP's electrical construction team
with designing, planning, scheduling, and installing complex
electrical based control systems, including but not limited to,
installing primary and secondary power distribution and branch
circuit conduits, panels, and devices, building fire alarm life
safety systems, internet and phone communication systems, tool
control systems, video surveillance systems, electronic and
pneumatic security control systems, perimeter security systems, and
building automation systems for the completion of Force Account
construction, renovation, major maintenance and repair projects.
The CAP Electrician Supervisor works hands-on and side by side
executing, mentoring, supervising, and approving electrical
installations performed by other personnel and State offender labor
resources assigned to the Construction Apprenticeship Program
(CAP). A successful candidate should possess electrical trade
skills, strong construction supervision experience, efficient
decision-making capabilities, and effective communication. This
individual may work under the management of a Construction
Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Trade Superintendent
on larger multi-trade construction projects or be assigned sole
supervisory responsibility for smaller fire alarm, video
surveillance, or controls electronics and/or electrical only
projects. The employee in this position is expected to perform
manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions. The
position requires weekly overnight travel to and from the assigned
construction projects that could be located anywhere within the
State of North Carolina. The CAP Electrician Supervisor position
will have a duty station assigned as the individual's permanent
home address and is assigned a State owned and maintained vehicle
that is used to commute to and from the construction projects and
to perform Company business during normal working hours. This is a
full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The
work schedule is Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. As of January
1, 2025, there are new Salary increase adjustments to the State's
pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources
Commission. Effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range (s)
will be $43,738.00 - $76,542.00. Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC11. State employees are

selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated
taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and

installation of primary and secondary low voltage electrical
conduit and circuitry for electrical distribution systems, class A
loop building fire alarm life safety systems, internet and phone

Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting construction
plans and specifications. Knowledge of OSHA construction industry

using standard test equipment to diagnose electrical components.
Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Journeyman Electrician
certification NC Limited or Unlimited Electrical Contractor License
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job

Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of journey
