Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is the largest state agency
and is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all
adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina
laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction
Enterprises, Division of Community Corrections, and Reentry
Programs and Services. We have a mission that matters! The NCDAC /
Support Services / Division of Engineering, Construction, and
Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative
Electronics Technician II to be a part of the Piedmont Region
Maintenance Team. This position has a duty station at Scotland
Correctional Institution in Laurinburg, NC and will be tasked with
completing electronics preventative maintenance and like-in-kind
Force Account system replacements. A successful candidate for this
position, shall have journeyman level experience in the
construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electronics
systems, equipment, and machinery; be able to work independently to
complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and
interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties. This
position requires the daily commute to Scotland Correctional
Institution in Laurinburg, NC, while also assisting the Piedmont
Region Maintenance Team with electronic preventative maintenance at
other regional Institutions. This is a full-time position (40 hours
per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday - Friday
and may require some weekend work and overnight travel to meet the
demands of the organization. As of January 1, 2025, there are new
Salary increase adjustments to the State's pay plan which were
approved by the State Human Resources Commission. Effective January
1, 2025. The new salary range (s) will be $43,738.00 - $76,542.00.

Demonstrated experience in the installation, programming, testing,
and troubleshooting of head end control equipment used with class A
loop building fire alarm life safety systems, internet and phone
communication systems, tool control systems, video surveillance
systems, electronic and pneumatic security control systems,
perimeter security systems, AND / OR building automation systems.
Demonstrated experience in the installation of low voltage conduit
and circuitry for class A loop building fire alarm life safety
systems, internet and phone communication systems, tool control
systems, video surveillance systems, electronic and pneumatic
security control systems, perimeter security systems, AND / OR
building automation systems. Demonstrated experience with standard
test equipment to diagnose electronic components. Demonstrated
experience reading and interpreting construction plans and
specifications. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some

electronics from an appropriately accredited institution and two
years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of
complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the
design of electronic apparatus; or an equivalent combination of
training and experience. Based on the nature of work performed, may
require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
